"ли" vs. "да не би да"

"ли" vs. "да не би да"

  • "ли" is the neutral question particle.
    • Example: "Идваш ли?" (Are you coming?)
  • "да не би да" asks with suspicion, worry or surprise, roughly "You're not ..., are you?" or "Could it be that ...?"
    • Example: "Да не би да идваш?" (Don't tell me you're coming?)
    • Example: "Да не би да си болен?" (You're not sick, are you?)
